On some weekends it’s not just about work!.
It’s early Saturday morning and the beautiful Loree’ and I head out for a weekend hiking along the Winter Valley roadbed north of Pearson. Around here, the high plains run up against the Rockies like a carpet hitting a wall. The camping, fishing and photography are outstanding. However the railroads see it another way. The sudden change in elevation caused serious problems in the early days and, while technology has eased the situation to some degree, those problems still exist today. The WV routinely double heads every train and even more power is called in during grain handling season.
